LOCAL HISTORY

Our first settler was William Mc Neil who lived in a cave on the shore of Chippewa Bay prior to 1812.

This solid eight foot tall limestone statue of William Mc Neil was carved by local artist Carmen D'Avino and stands in front of the museum.

The following are stories and accounts about the history of the Hammond area.
