The website lighthousefriends.com has pages devoted to lighthouses all over the US. Of specific interest to our area is the page for Crossover Island Lighthouse.
Singer Castle is an architectural treasure
of the Thousand Islands. It was built on Dark Island in 1905 by
multi-millionaire Frederick Bourne. The castle was completed, furnished
and lived in for 100 years. The granite towers,
great rooms, Italian marble fireplaces, secret passages and many of
the original furnishings are still there. Guided tours are available via a
Castle Shuttle from Schermerhorn Harbor.
The artist Frederic Remington created many
of his famous paintings while living on an island in Chippewa Bay.
He often used local people for his models.

Nearby Black Lake is well known as one of
the great locations for bass fishing in the Northeast.
Family oriented campgrounds and cottages are available for fishing,

The St. Lawrence County Historical
Association is located in the Silas Wright House in Canton, NY.
It has an outstanding genealogy center.
It researches, collects, preserves and interprets the history of
